ChatDeen is a research assistant for classical Islamic texts. This policy explains what information the service processes, why, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google or another identity provider, we receive your name, email address, profile image, and a provider identifier. If you register with email and password, we store your email address and a hashed password.
- Chat content. Your questions, prompts, the assistant's responses, saved conversations, and any files you choose to upload.
- Usage information. Timestamps, token counts, cost records, and basic request metadata needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
- Cookies. Session and authentication cookies required to keep you signed in.
- Guest access. If you try the service without an account, we create a temporary guest account for you. To limit abuse, we keep a keyed hash of your IP address (not the address itself) and the time the guest account was created, so that each connection can start only a limited number of guest accounts. Starting guest access may include a Cloudflare Turnstile check, which helps tell people from automated traffic.
2. How we use information
We use this information to authenticate you, generate answers, save your conversations, enforce usage limits, monitor cost and abuse, maintain reliability, and comply with applicable law.
3. Third parties and data sharing
- AI service providers. To generate an answer, your messages and the source passages relevant to them are processed by the AI service provider we use. Do not submit sensitive personal information that you are not comfortable sharing with that provider.
- Google. If you choose Google sign-in, Google authenticates you and shares your basic profile information with us.
- Network and security providers. Requests to this site pass through providers that deliver and protect the service. They process request metadata, such as your IP address, under their own privacy policies.
- Usage records. Usage and cost records are kept on our own systems to operate the service. They are not shared with third-party analytics services.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Storage and retention
Data is stored on systems we control. Conversations remain until you delete them or we remove them. Account information remains while your account is active. Backups may retain information for a limited period.
Guest accounts and their conversations are deleted 7 days after they are created, unless you create an account and move them to it. Usage records and the hashed IP record of a guest account are kept after it is deleted.
5. Your choices
You can delete conversations from within the app. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account data, contact us at the address below.
6. Security
We encrypt data in transit and restrict access to stored data. No system is perfectly secure, so please avoid submitting sensitive personal information.
7. Children
The service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will change when we do, and material changes will be posted on this page.
